On 19th July, Indian Government announced that they are setting up a
National Medical and Wellness Tourism Board to give help to those who
are visiting India for healthcare tourism.
India is
considered is one of the best destination for international medical
tourism. Economical surgeries and cost effective treatments are the
major reasons for the increase in international medical patients in
India. It has been proved that you can save Up to 70% cost in India and
hence the government decided to give a boost to medical tourism.
Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma mentioned that this board will consist of ministry officials and stakeholders such as hospitals in India, medical entrepreneurs, hoteliers and tour operators. He also informed that government has also launched a helpline 1363 or 1800-111-363
to help international tourists for guidance. Currently this helpline is
available in Hindi and English language but soon this will be available
in 12 foreign languages.
On the same day, Mahesh Sharma has also launched another edition of television commercial “Atithi Devo Bhava”.
